Young people have so much pressure put on them from previous generations, from such things as owning property to marriage. It may be hard for them to understand, but times have changed and it’s more difficult to achieve certain things – plus not everyone wants to abide by these things.
Here are 5 things you need to stop feeling guilty about.
OWNING A HOUSE
With many recessions and a global pandemic, this one is understandable. Not everyone can afford to save for a house as rent is also too expensive these days. If you want a house, then take your time and save for your dream – it doesn’t have to happen over night.
BEING MARRIED OR IN A RELATIONSHIP
It’s fine to be single and you don’t need a partner if you don’t want one. If you are searching, then be patient and it’ll happen. Relatives asking this question don’t help this problem, but ignore them and enjoy your singleness whilst you can.
Because of how expensive things are, it’s no surprise that many of us don’t have a lot of savings (personally, I only started 2 years after working). Life is hard and expensive, save if you want to but don’t feel pressured to do it if you don’t want to.
The thought of “I was so attractive and slim when I was younger” is getting old and doesn’t matter. People get older with age but you are still beautiful no matter what. Of course you aren’t as slim as when you were younger – because you were a child!
It’s okay to cry for no reason or get angry – everyone does it. It’s normal to express emotions and to feel down sometimes. Just remember to seek professional help if it continues to get worse, but there is no shame in feeling.
