Bridget Jones is an icon

The first Bridget Jones film and book was iconic, that’s a fact! Renée Zellweger perfectly embodied the character and she became a beacon for other women. Through the story, she learns many things and becomes a better person for it.

Here are a few reasons why we love Bridget and why she’s an icon:

She was completely honest

In her relationship with Mark Darcy and Daniel Cleaver, she would be her goofy self. Whilst she told a few white lies, she never hid anything about herself and even showed off her granny panties.

She went for her passion

After realising that Cleaver was a scumbag, she decided to find another job and find something she’s more passionate about. No one wants to show their knickers on TV, but at least she managed to say a cool line afterwards.

Unlikely style icon

Her outfits were actually genius. Her sultry tops at work to entice Cleaver, the dress she wore to the big publishers party and the bunny outfit to the tarts and vicars party were all fabulous. Not forgetting the cardigans and jumpers, Briget is a true British style icon.

She sticks up for herself

After finding your boyfriend cheating and awkwardly having to work with him, can be extremely awkward. He won’t let her resign but Bridget stands up for herself and doesn’t let a guy walk all over her. She’s a true inspiration!

She recognises her flaws and tries to improve

Bridget Jones is not fat, that’s a misconception that people were made to think. She does however realise that she drinks too much and maybe smokes a little bit too much so she decides to try and get healthier. She strives for a goal and believes in herself.

In summary, she’s perfect just the way she is.
